"A lot of young people see the double standards, they see what happens in (U.S. detention camp) Guantanamo Bay, and they just think that there isn't a just foreign policy," he said.
"You've just had 80 years of Western intervention into predominantly Arab lands because of a Western need for oil. We've propped up unsavoury governments, we've overthrown ones that we didn't consider sympathetic," Livingstone said.

"I think the particular problem we have at the moment is that in the 1980s ... the Americans recruited and trained Osama bin Laden, taught him how to kill, to make bombs, and set him off to kill the Russians to drive them out of Afghanistan.

"They didn't give any thought to the fact that once he'd done that, he might turn on his creators," he told BBC radio.

The London Bombing Was America’s Fault

7-13-2005

Deadly, yet silent, the terrorists entered the Tube, London’s underground rail system; the world’s largest and oldest subway system, and melded into the mass of approximately 800 travelers on each of three trains that are part of a total of 500 in the underground network.

In what became a horrendously bloody and senseless bombing, at 8:50 that morning the terrorists detonated three explosions in a coordinated attack that transpired in only a matter of seconds apart. Almost an hour later a fourth bomb exploded on a double-decker bus, blowing off the top, ending the senseless carnage of an attack that led eventually to the deaths of over 50 Britons.

Among the charred rubble and twisted metal lay the remains of devastation created by the radical machinations of individuals who intend to end the freedom of civilization as we know it and they know that intimidation through fear is the greatest motivator in their arsenal.

Prime Minister Tony Blair has never wavered in his understanding of the mentality of terrorists as ‘barbaric’ and his resolve to defeat them. “It is important however that those engaged in terrorism realize that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world.”

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for countless others, especially many in our own country who dominate the liberal media establishment and endlessly parrot the liberal appeasement and ‘blame America first’ crowd. This despite the fact that America also encountered her own deadly attack on 9-11-2001 by terrorists with the same ‘barbaric’ extremist views that Blair referred to.

But don’t mention that incident in the same breath as the London bombing because as liberals will tell you, 9-11 has nothing to do with the War on Terror. Besides, liberals are also quick to tell you that the London bombing wasn’t caused by terrorism, but because of America.

It was America’s fault. In the mind’s of liberals it has always been America’s fault.

According to them not only are we creating more terrorists everyday in the War on Terror, but we are ‘training’ them to carry out their horrendous acts elsewhere in the world. Why, if it wasn’t for America’s imperialistic occupation of Iraq, this tragedy would never have happened!

Tim Russert told Matt Lauer on the Today show the following morning that, “Popularity polls, Matt, this morning show that people (in Europe) believe that this (the bombing) is a result of Britain and the U.S. involvement in Iraq.”

That’s right, in the wake of the bombings, somebody felt the need to create a poll to be used to highlight who the Britons thought were at fault in the incident. What if the Irish Republican Army had decided to start bombing again to remind Great Britain that they are still there?

The fact is, nobody yet knows definitively who was responsible for the attack, so how would the people in Great Britain know that soon after the attack and why was it so important to find out what the people thought when they were still in shock from the terrorist attack?

Also, if the bombing transpired because we are in Iraq, doesn’t that mean terrorists are in Iraq who know they can only fulfill Jihad if they can make our troops leave? And the only way to get our troops to leave is to make the citizens of our countries so against the War on Terror that the leaders have no choice but to pull out the troops?

That is the only plausible answer because in the case of the Spain bombing, they were in the midst of an election where the leader who supported the War on Terror could be voted out of office. Tony Blair and George W. Bush aren’t going anywhere since they have been re-elected, so the terrorists can only win if liberal’s weak kneed reactions to withdraw succeed.

To make that happen, the terrorists need a willing media.

Take for instance the first line of a recent column from Leonard Pitts Jr.: “Tell me again how the Iraq war has made us safer from terrorism.” We’re safer because our military have captured or killed thousands of terrorists in Iraq who could have planned and perpetrated another attack elsewhere in the world and they are still capturing and killing them.

That doesn’t mean there could never be another terrorist attack here, but it does mean that the likelihood of another successful terrorist attack in America has been greatly diminished.

Liberals don’t think that’s possible because America is creating more terrorists through our implementation of the War on Terror in Iraq and the fact that we haven’t been attacked here is because, as Senator Bob Graham (D-Fla.) said on Hannity and Colmes, we have been ‘lucky’!

London was ‘unlucky’ because as is now being reported, terrorist groups that had been openly hostile towards the British government were allowed to operate freely in their country. But that doesn’t matter to liberals because Great Britain deserved to be attacked for siding with imperialistic America and it’s War on Terror.

Liberal columnist Derrick Jackson even wrote, “invoking of the innocents (in London) also reminds us of our despicable, cowardly killing of innocent Iraqi civilians.” That’s right, to liberals we are no better than the terrorists.

It proves that Karl Rove was right when he said, “liberals saw the savagery of the 9-11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.”

In the world view of liberals, London wasn’t bombed because Great Britain is a free country and Muslim extremists proudly preach everyday that they are part of a Jihad where they must bring death to the infidels.

No, the attack took place because America and our partners in the War on Terror are killing and capturing innocent terrorists. If we would just leave them alone, they wouldn’t have a reason to attack us... well, except for the fact that we are infidels and believe in freedom for everyone.

That’s one of the main reasons why it’s America’s fault. As liberals have repeatedly told us, some people just don’t want to be free or strive to live in a democracy. It’s that imperialistic, extremist worldview that we should fight for freedom that is causing people to get killed.

Not the terrorists who are blowing up innocent men, women and children across the globe because they don’t want to see freedom flourish!
